Don't worry. I'm not suggesting that I'm going to crochet 1,000 doilies, but I did volunteer to help a friend who has decided that she needs 1,000 doilies. Yep. You read correctly. 1,000 doilies. Artist Lisa Solomon is planning a wall of doilies for an upcoming art show at this gallery. I'm so excited to be part of this project and I think it's so amazing and cool that she's gathering fellow crocheters and artists from across the country and around the world to help out. I happen to know that two of my instagram crochet buddies [Ellie and Kate in Australia] will be helping, too. I love it. Worldwide projects are fun, I say.
If you have a chance, click through Lisa's portfolio. It's really beautiful and she does some lovely things. Here's a little video where she talks about some of her work. And here's a video explaining the pattern for these doilies. She's still looking for helpers, if you're interested. I've signed on to crochet 20 very, very small doilies. I'm pretty sure I can manage this, especially since I have till the end of the summer to finish. I'll keep you posted on my progress. Let me know if you do decide to participate.
Is this why you asked me if I crochet? I really wish I could I help, but I'm really not that great at it. Good luck! If I pick up a few skills, maybe I could help. I'll let you know :)
