happy new year!

Well, hello, and happy new year! It's hard to believe that it's already January 3rd... these long winter days have been simultaneously dragging and flying by at the same time. I think I need a bit more sun. And salt water. That would probably solve this winter mood.

I really haven't been doing much lately except for trying to organize and put the house back in order. We were given five new [new to us] pieces of furniture and so it's been a challenge to squeeze everything in... as it is, we still have an extra tattered couch in the dining room and a dresser in the tiny upstairs hall. We cleaned the basement and unpacked neglected boxes on new year's day. I vacuumed up spiders and dead bugs. It was thrilling. I'll try to take some photos to share with you soon [not of the dead bugs].

You may remember that blurb.com asked permission to use content from one of my travel books a while back. I found one of my Florida photos used in a banner on blurb's site here. I love it. Thanks, blurb.

My birthday is coming soon... just a couple weeks away. And, I thought it might be helpful to make a little list... for someone [like my husband] of certain items that I like very much. He's well aware of the glittered deer head at my favorite shop, Watermelon Sugar, though he's pointed out that he doesn't understand the attraction. I've also expressed my attraction to the "measuring hedgies" from Anthropologie. And finally, I can't stop thinking about the jewelry from this little shop, The Angry Weather. The very talented Iveth Morales designs these sweet necklaces, rings and bracelets. I especially love the House and Cloud Necklace and the Je t'aime Banner Necklace. Hint. Hint.

Hi Cyndi, Sean, Sylvie and Forrest Dad pulled up the blog this evening and I went through the whole thing reading all the messages and enjoying the beautiful photos and your artistic talents. It was sort of like having a long visit with all of you and it was lots of fun to see the kiddies.
