I recently finished this little project... so much faster than a blanket! I followed the Baylie Bear Cowl pattern that I found in an etsy shop called The Velvet Acorn.
I discovered long ago, when I worked in a handknit sweater shop that I'm allergic to wool, not a good thing when the job required folding piles and piles of sweaters all day long. Luckily, the owner lived in New York City and so I'd only have to wear a sweater and make up about once a year when she visited the shop. Anyway, instead of using sheep's wool, I chose a beautiful, soft alpaca fleece for this hood. It's so soft.
The pattern was fairly easy to follow and I have visions of making a few more for the other tiny people in my life... I bet a baby one would take about a minute to finish.
I took the little lady out for a stroll in the woods the other morning. It was very foggy. Baltimore has been in a fog for days. And days. And days. So often, my daughter drags her feet about leaving the house, and then once we're out in the woods, she doesn't want to come back. She loves climbing over rocks and logs and building fairie houses. I finally enticed her out of the forest with promises of chicken tikka masala at our favorite Indian buffet. Chocolate cake included.
I love it! And I love that she likes to wear it! Sammy would be a big fan of that (and likely want to sleep in it, too), but Brie on the other hand... ;-)

Thanks, Stephanie... she has said that she won't wear it to school because she would be so embarrassed. I'm in shock that she already thinks she's too old for ears, but I wouldn't send it with her to school anyway because I wouldn't want it to get lost or hurt. I'm picturing it going perfectly with a snow adventure... if we ever get some snow. You must be experiencing a cold Ohio winter?
