It's finished! You may remember this granny square sampler that I started last May, I believe. It was all inspired by the very talented Blair of Wise Craft. If you'd like to make one of these blankets for yourself you can find the instructions here. It was a real learning experience, and I conquered some great new squares. Maybe, maybe... I'll focus on an afghan or two using versions of just this square or maybe this one. What do you think?
This blanket has kept me busy in the evenings while I watch movies, on many car trips to Ohio and West Virginia and the Eastern Shore. I have good memories of crocheting squares on the beach in Florida admiring the summer storms as they rolled by. In honor of the first episode of season 3 of Downton Abbey airing last night (yay!), I pulled out this blue afghan to work on... it's really close to being finished. I'm trying to decide between an edging in white or in orange, but either way a trip to the yarn shop will be necessary.
It makes me so happy to see that the kids, the cats and even my husband are already enjoying this blanket. They practically pounced on it... I caught my husband taking two different naps under it yesterday. And the little boy has discovered that it makes our new wood floor softer.
Lovely job Cyndi!!! What an accomplishment that blanket is. That is a lot of stitches. There is nothing quite like a handmade blanket to spruce up a home. Love it.
