After the Christmas card snowflake extravaganza, I've been trying to keep art projects simple. It's been pointed out that I tend to go a little overboard with the kids' crafts. Who me? This year's valentines were super simple and fun to make. I was inspired and guided by Martha Stewart's Valentine's Day Treat Packages. Aren't they cute? So easy.
I taped a large sheet of white paper to the floor (a white wall would work just as well) and decorated the sheet with red construction paper hearts. I then bribed and coaxed the small wiggly boy to lay down on the paper and freeze for exactly one photo. It turned out so cute. I love how he looks like he doesn't want to give away any kisses.
My daughter, on the other hand, was very willing and cooperative during her quick photo shoot. I managed to come away with several cute photos. She's such a sweetie.
I printed the photos on my home printer on nice, white paper. I found the tiny plastic bags at the craft store Michaels. And the heart and lips gummy treats are from Target. The hardest part was convincing that little boy to write out 23 cards, the teachers asked the children to write out each classmate's name for practice. I divided this task up over many days and voilà! All the valentines are finished. Yay!
I just hope that their Valentine's Day parties aren't cancelled because of this big winter storm that predicted for the next few days. Maybe we will just get rain?
Also, I've realized that I never did share their valentines from last year, and so I'm putting together a post on that. Hoping to share that with you soon. While organizing my thoughts, I've found posts from Valentine's Days past here, here and here.
... a very happy Valentine's Day!!
